Shopbop has a team of buyers, who attend fashion and trade shows to view potential on-hand merchandise. Through extensive industry analysis and past seasonal reports, they purchase merchandise to sell the following season.  While they maintain a large (over 10,000 items), fashion-forward selection, they lack exclusivity.  


Styling the Merchandise


Stylists of shopbop emphasize the merchandise by putting together seasonal lookbooks and short films. Maintaing their signature orange and white aesthetic, their stylists do an impeccable job of e-merchandising, which helps replace the lack of sales associates to push and increase sales.








Shopbop has over 500 exclusives offered at any one time. Although they carry items exclusive to the site, none of their designers are exclusive to the Shopbop. 



Rag & Bone Exclusive for Shopbop


Above is a photo of a Shopbop Exclusive. The buyers asked Rag & Bone to make special camouflage-print trousers for them. They sell these exaggerated harem pants so well, and they showcase them in a way that’s wearable for a girl in her 20s. Rag & Bone had this great camo print in their outerwear, so they suggested it for the pants. 

Shopbop knows what their customers want. They should create their own private label so they can make their own pieces. They have the capitol and the means to create a label, which would provide exclusivity in this tough market and give them more revenue.
